The sun has risen,
And I’m still wrestling my dreams.
It’s the same old story,
And my mind is loosening at the seams.
It keeps happening,
Every night it’s the same.
The same eyes and hair,
The long forbidden name.
I can have no victory,
I am losing my sanity.
Is this really love,
Or has it become vanity?
Despite all my questions,
Regardless of doubts.
I’ve learned to follow my convictions,
And ignore all that fear shouts.
You see the heart is a mistress,
She lies and she cheats.
It is the soul you must follow,
In triumph or defeat.
So, I sing my souls song,
At the top of my lungs.
I shout at my doubts,
And leave my fears where they’re hung.
And these dreams, though they torture,
Though they injure and wound.
They cannot dampen this soul song,
They cannot dampen this soul song.
