I have been following after Ben Shive for a little bit now. A few years ago, he released his first album “The Ill-Tempered Klavier”, which really displayed his knack for composing great music. Also, as displayed in the song “Rise Up”, he has an extraordinary ability to paint pictures with lyrics and music. So, naturally I was very excited to hear about this new album.
So, when it was released I acquired it and proceeded to listen to it, start to finish. If I was going to score it from 1 to 10, I would give it a 8 bacon strips. I was amazed. He has risen far above the level of a songwriter and into the realm of a composer. His song, “A Last Time for Everything” (which I have included a live version of) is one of the most awe-inspiring songs I have ever heard. The climax is without a doubt when he reaches the bridge and says…
“You need to look Death in the eye, in the eye. You need to see whats hidden there, whats hidden there. You need to look Him in the eye. Ya, in the eye. You need to see that He’s afraid to die.”
He then proceeds to describe the rapture account in such a way that you can’t help but pray for God to return now. So, now the question, “Would I recommend you buying this album?”. Obviously the answer is yes!
